The discussion panel event will include an exciting debate by ASME members and industry experts from Italy on novel technologies coming out of Italy and the best practices for collaborations between Italian and US companies and research centers in the area of advanced manufacturing. The Advanced Manufacturing Track will also be presenting their Best Paper Awards during the reception.

PANELISTS
Giulio Busulini
Mr. Giulio Busulini is a science diplomacy advisor of public affairs and a US liaison for Italy's Fabbrica Intelligente advanced manufacturing cluster association. Formerly he served as a science and technology counselor at the Italian Embassy in Washington DC. Mr. Busulini helps institutions and business to strategically innovate, build partnerships, negotiate internationally, and be successful in a competitive global market.
Paolo Calefati
Mr. Paolo Calefati is the vice president of innovation and additive manufacturing business development at Prima Industrie, where he oversees its Prima Additive division which develops manufactures, sells and distributes its industrial metal Additive Manufacturing systems worldwide. Mr. Calefati speaks regularly at a number of international conferences addressing additive manufacturing technology issues.
Martin Kinsella
Martin Kinsella has over 30 years of experience in the automation industry, and has worked for Comau USA since 1990. With a proven track record in all aspects of engineering and management, his responsibilities have included R&D, simultaneous engineering, Robcad and virtual factory simulation through system launch. In 2012, Martin became Comau’s Director of Advanced Materials and Process Technology, establishing Comau’s Global Centers of Excellence for Advanced Materials. Martin is a member of the LIFT - American Lightweight Metals Manufacturing Innovation Institute Board and UK Trade and Investment Advanced Engineering Advisory Board.
Marco Petrolo
Dr. Marco Petrolo is a professor at the Polytechnic University of Turin, Italy. His areas of study focus on various research topics related to the development of refined structural models of composite structures. His research activity deals with the structural analysis of composite lifting surfaces, refined beam, plate and shell models, and component-wise approaches and axiomatic/asymptotic analyses.
Marco Rossoni
Dr. Marco Rossoni is a Research Fellow for the Mechanical Engineering department at the Polytechnic University of Milan, Italy. Currently he is a visiting scholar at the Georgia Institute of Technology.
MODERATOR
Marriner H. Merrill
Marriner H. Merrill is a member of the ASME board for the advanced manufacturing tracks and is a researcher in multifunctional materials at the US Naval Research Laboratories. Mr. Merrill's research is focused in developing new methods to process and characterize multi-scale and/or multifunctional materials. Current projects range from the macro-scale (repair of inter-facial delamination in transparent armor) to the nano-scale (developing new nano-manufacturing methods) utilizing electrospray ionization.
